"Recently, I received a notice letter, letting me know that my homeowners insurance premium was going up, significantly. I rarely ‘shop’ my rates because I value quality of service as much as price but this 22% increase was way out of line. I decided to shop for a provider with a better price but who also had to have reliability. A local business with real human beings would be a plus! After comparing base rates and reviews online, I called State Farm for a quote. Marie Vanostrand took my call and immediately started her taking my information. Over the next few days, we spoke about what she could offer and also what other details/options would get me a greater discount. I was so impressed with her service, I decided to see if she could help me with ALL my insurance coverage. The discounts she kept finding were incredible and she left it to me to decide how much coverage and what deductibles I wanted. No pressure sale. I am 64 years old and not easily impressed after all the years of ‘bait and switch’ tactics I have seen in my lifetime. On this occasion, I was impressed! My homeowners policy is now LOWER than my original policy (with more coverage) and I saw the same results with my autos and jewelry policies. When I called my previous carrier to cancel my insurances, I was angered by the comment that they thought they might could find me a better rate. No thank you, you had your chance. I know they couldn’t, anyway. They DID ask what rates I got and I told them that wasn’t any of their business. In summary, I want to say I’m so happy to be under the State Farm umbrella but even more to now have an agent in my town who I can physically see and who took the time to start with a simple policy rate inquiry and turned it into a nice bundle for both of us. (Home, two cars, a motorhome, a motorcycle, a jewelry policy as well as personal liability umbrella coverage).
